My mother is amazing. She is strong; physically, mentally, and emotionally. She is a giant and I love her. Sometimes I am convinced that she was born that tough and here is just one of the reasons why:
My mother grew up in a farming community; everyone had land and animals. My grandparents had a donkey. Now, my mother was always known for her trouble making capabilities; starting fights, finishing fights, and starting them up again.
One day she was near the donkey and for whatever reason he headbutted her. "Ay!" she yelled and assessed the damage, her tooth hurt but it was fine. She furrowed her brow and pursed her lips, clenching her fist "POW!" she punched the donkey right in the kisser.

A Fun One
When I started this blog, I had a very specific story in mind. Aside from forgetting almost entirely about this blog, I just didn't know how "appropriate" it would be. But, what is appropriate, really? I would submit that because nothing in my childhood was appropriate by most standards, I can tell this story worry-free. So here goes.
My grandfather was the son of a farmer. My grandmother also came from a farming family. I would like to say that they fell in love instantly. If this were Hollywood, they would have fallen in love at a first sight. But, this was not Hollywood, this was Azua. Small town Dominican Republic, in the 50's.
My grandfather was in "lust" and my grandmother, the strong willed woman that she was, would have nothing to do with it. "If you want to have me, you are not going to have me and leave me in my father's house. You will buy me a house, and land. And then, maybe I will consider being your wife."
So, he bought her a house and land. And they settled, proper.

Purpose
Okay, so here's the deal; I want to somehow document the stories that my mother has told me my entire life. These are the stories that are a part of me. They have been vital in the molding of who I am and who I will one day become. I love these stories.
I don't know how I'm going to divide up the stories, or how I will translate the funny things from Spanish so that they will still be funny.
It will all work out so stay tuned.
